Can you walk us through the key milestones in your career in the talent acquisition space? What were some pivotal moments or decisions that shaped your journey?

My career in talent acquisition began in hands-on sourcing and research roles, where I built a strong foundation in talent mapping, candidate research, and market analysis across both technical and business functions. Early on, I supported high-volume and high-visibility roles in IT, cloud, engineering, consulting, finance, customer care, and sales, an experience that sharpened my ability to balance speed, quality, and stakeholder expectations.

A pivotal milestone was joining Deltek, an enterprise SaaS company serving the government contracting, architecture & engineering, construction, and energy industries. There, I transitioned into global sourcing roles supporting North America, EMEA, and APAC, working on revenue-generating, niche, and high-complexity positions. These roles often required navigating limited talent pools and making thoughtful hiring trade-offs grounded in real market data.

As my scope expanded, my focus shifted from individual requisitions to building scalable sourcing strategies and delivering actionable market intelligence to recruiting leaders. I became deeply involved in pre-requisition sourcing, talent pool analysis, and advising on role feasibility, compensation alignment, and location strategy, helping stakeholders make informed decisions earlier, not reactively.

The most defining phase of my career has been leading Deltek’s Global Sourcing Center, where I operate at the intersection of execution and strategy. I lead and coach sourcers, support executive and senior-level hiring, and drive global initiatives that combine AI, automation, and analytics. I’ve built sourcing programs, dashboards, and AI-powered tools that improve market visibility, hiring efficiency, and decision-making for both recruiters and business leaders.

This progression, from hands-on sourcing to global leadership has shaped my perspective as a talent strategist who values data, technology, and human judgment equally. As the industry continues to evolve, I’m motivated by opportunities that allow me to keep expanding my scope, learning from new challenges, and applying these experiences in environments where thoughtful talent strategy can make a meaningful difference.

In this rapidly evolving industry, what strategies or practices have you adopted to continuously enhance your skills and stay ahead of the curve? Do you have any resources or learning methods you'd recommend to others?

Continuous improvement has always been central to my work, especially as talent acquisition becomes increasingly data- and technology-driven. I’m deeply passionate about using technology to elevate recruiting from execution to strategy. Beyond adopting tools, I actively build solutions myself, including an AI-assisted Boolean string generator and a talent market intelligence application to help recruiters translate data into faster, more informed hiring decisions..

I continue to experiment with AI tools, sourcing automation, and market intelligence platforms to understand where they meaningfully improve speed, precision, and decision-making. Staying hands-on, testing sourcing strategies, validating market data, and reviewing outcomes with my team, ensures these technologies remain practical, scalable, and grounded in real hiring needs.

Rather than relying on a single source of truth, I cross-validate insights across multiple platforms and real-world hiring outcomes. This approach keeps me adaptable and ahead of shifting talent market trends.

What has been the most challenging aspect of your career in talent acquisition, especially when you were actively seeking work? How did you overcome it, and what advice would you offer to others facing similar hurdles?

One of the most challenging aspects of my career has been navigating ambiguity during market slowdowns, shifting hiring priorities, or periods of career transition. Talent acquisition roles are often narrowly defined, even though the work itself demands broad, adaptable skill sets.

I addressed this by focusing on clarity and impact. Rather than positioning myself by title alone, I emphasized the problems I solve: improving hiring efficiency, bringing market visibility to leaders, and building scalable sourcing solutions. Staying active through continuous learning, experimentation, and contribution helped me maintain momentum, even in uncertain periods.

My advice to others is to lean into transferable strengths and remain visible through your work—not just your applications.

The recruiting world can be fast-paced and demanding. How do you strike a balance between your professional commitments and personal life? Are there specific routines or rituals you follow?

Balance, for me, comes from structure and intention. Leading a global team means working across time zones, so I’m deliberate about setting priorities and protecting focus time. I plan my days around high-impact work while allowing flexibility for collaboration and urgent needs.

I also disconnect intentionally, recognizing that sustained performance requires rest and perspective. Clear routines both at work and outside of it, help me stay energized, focused, and present.

As someone involved in talent acquisition, you've likely witnessed various technology and trend shifts. Which technologies or trends do you believe have had the most significant impact on the industry, and how have they influenced your role?

AI and advanced market intelligence tools have had the most significant impact on my role. They’ve shifted sourcing from a reactive activity into a strategic function, enabling better forecasting, sharper targeting, and more informed stakeholder conversations.

These technologies have also raised expectations for recruiters and sourcers. Today, value lies not just in finding candidates but in interpreting data, advising leaders, and designing solutions aligned with business realities. Embracing these tools has allowed me to drive efficiency while keeping human judgment at the center of hiring decisions.

For those entering the talent acquisition space or those looking to pivot within it, what's the one piece of practical advice you'd give to help them thrive, especially if they are actively job-seeking?

Learn to think beyond the requisition. Strong talent professionals understand not only how to find candidates, but why roles are hard to hire, what trade-offs exist, and how market conditions shape outcomes.

For job seekers, especially, clarity matters. Be precise about your impact, your strengths, and the environments where you do your best work. In my experience, the most meaningful opportunities emerge through continuous learning, visible contribution, and openness to conversations that align curiosity with capability.
